Supported Languages in 12 orbits

In case you ended up here while trying to find out if 12 orbits supports your language, here you go:

12 orbits doesn’t support my language on <MY FAVORITE DEVICE>, but it does support it on <SOME OTHER DEVICE I DO NOT LIKE AS MUCH>. What’s up with that?

Not all devices support all languages within their shops, and for their own user interface. However, even if a shop does not show you all languages, you can select them once you have started 12 orbits. You just may have to do so by hand, instead of the device automatically selecting your language the first time 12 orbits is started.

If all languages are supported on all devices, what are they?

Currently, 12 orbits supports the following languages:

Arabic, Chinese (simplified), Chinese (traditional), Dutch, English, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazilian), Russian, Spanish (European), Spanish (Latin American)

Purely hypothetical question, but if I had played around with the language setting, and was now unable to change it back because I can’t even name the characters I’m looking at, how would I switch back to my original language?

In the main menu, select the lowest orange button. That should get you to the options menu. Now change the topmost setting until you can tell what it says once more.

Libraries, Schools etc.

12 orbits was part of the International Games Week for libraries this year. Basically, this means libraries could participate with events and get the game for free during that week.

I am an (ex-) librarian myself, and would actually like to do this all the time. So if your library needs a local multiplayer game that does not require additional hardware or controllers, head on over here. You can also request copies for schools or other nonprofit institutions.

Indie Game Forum @Medienfestival

I also had the opportunity to showcase 12 orbits at last weeks Medienfestival in Dresden. This was the first time I got to show the game to such a big group of players who hadn’t seen it before, and it was an awesome weekend :-)

There are a whole bunch of pictures, audio files and even a short interview on their blog. So instead of me shamelessly copying everything here, just head on over there if you’d like to see more.

12 orbits has been awarded with the “Pädagogischer Medienpreis 2017” (~ pedagogical media price)!

It’s been an honor, and I had a lot of fun being there and showing of the game. They even made a nice video for it. It’s in German of course, but you’ll get the idea :-)

12 orbits has been nominated for “Best Youth Game” at the Deutscher Computerspielpreis 2017 (yeah, really!), and I will be at the Quo Vadis / Making Games Festival in Berlin from 24th to 26th of April to present the game before the award show. If you’d like, you can also vote for 12 orbits at the audience award here: https://deutscher-computerspielpreis.de/publikumspreis/12-orbits

12 orbits will also be shown at the “Now play this” exhibition during the London Games Festival from 7-9 April. So if you are in London and have been looking for a bigger crowd to play the game, this is your chance.

Finally, I learned that 12 orbits was used for a tournament at this year’s Gamescamp. This one is already over, but I still think it’s cool, so here it is :-)

A small delay

12 orbits was supposed to launch today.

But to make a long story short, some unforeseen things happened. And in consequence, I would not be able to give the kind of support right now that I think should be expected on launch day. Moving back the date may not be the most professional thing to do, but it is probably better than just hitting the release button, running away with my eyes closed, and hoping for the best.

The wait won’t be long. Games cannot be released on the weekend, so Monday it is. Everything should be sorted out by then, and I will be able to give the launch the attention it deserves.

See you soon!

12 orbits will be released on Steam next week!

The Steam implementation is done and you can already visit the store page at http://store.steampowered.com/app/529950. I will flip the switch on Friday next week, the 21st of October.

12 orbits will have steam achievements, and other steam related features will be added later on. The same is true for Mac and Linux support. I need to do some more tests on theses systems for the Steam version, so I have to meet up with more friends who have them first :-)

itch.io buyers will of course receive Steam keys once they are available.

See you next week!
